i know, i know, i haven't been around! school's been killer. i've got the second issue of reinventing love about half-written.

the distro's changed names, as you can probably guess by the new website. shiny, eh? polkadots! if you're curious, "1791" is a reference to the year that olympe de gouges published her declaration of the rights of woman, a different and far more awesome text than the similarly titled vindication of the rights of woman by mary wollstonecraft. anyway.

i'm currently completely out of reinventing love #1. i've got my own personal copy, very battered and worn, left over. i'll get some more printed soon, i just need to get together a little bit of cash to do so... and then i really need to get the second issue finished and put together.

anyway, just wanted to let you know, i'm still alive. i'll be around.

okay! i will for sure be at the edmonton micropress underground fair, october 25th, from 12-4pm. you should definitely come! the zine fair will be from 12-4pm, and i will be there with my zines. after 4pm, some bands will be playing, among them the blazing violets, a band for which a good friend of mine plays bass. i believe their new album is coming out soon? i'm stoked for that.

anyway. i'll be there with issue #1 of reinventing love, and hopefully some other goodies.

On Saturday October 25th, Greensleeve Editions, CJSR, and theArtery present the launch of not one, but two zines on the same day. Greensleeve's Splurge (on it's 2nd issue), and Urban Graffiti (on it's 10th issue) are being released together in support of the CJSR Fundrive, and Edmonton Street News. Also being unveiled on October 25th, is the inaugural installment of Edmonton's newest micropress affiliation: Edmonton Micropress Underground. The Fair will be free of charge (held from Noon to 4pm), and will feature a collection of local E-town Micropresses, their representatives and publications.

Following the fair is the days main event, which is being held on the main level of theARTery, will feature live music from local bands: Thea Vs Loki, The Blazing Violets, The Yells, The Southern Pink and more. The main event will go from 4pm until 12am. $5 Cover.

proceeds from the door go towards CJSR and Edmonton Street News, which is awesome. so, yes, all very awesome. i hope to see you there.

fuck i hate being sick. but yay, functional blogging functions for the win. watched v for vendetta today -- fuck that's an amazing movie. the comic book is even more insane, too. i have a whole ton of ideas in my head right now -- i've got a plan for issue #2 of reinventing love. the goal is to have that out at the beginning of january. fingers crossed!

that said, i'd like to have more on my table at events, so i'm gonna see what i can throw together in the next few weeks. be a lot easier to do if i didn't have this fucking cold.

i did want to take a minute to see that the edmonton anarchist bookfair was an amazing success; i got rid of 37 zines - ten of those went to out-of-town bookstores, a few were trades or donations, but overall i made back half of my printing costs, which is way better than i was expecting to do. i met a lot of amazing people, i went to some awesome workshops.

everyone i met was fucking awesome, it was a great weekend. now if only i could find a ride to saskatoon next month...

hah. finally made something that looks half-decent in the iframe of the website. win! wanted a space that i could talk in a little more easily. i've got a cold right now, which is really fucking awful. i've spent pretty much the entirety of today and yesterday either in bed or asleep on the couch, so. i need to make dinner but i just don't have the energy.

i'm working on a couple zines right now, all in their preliminary stages, but hopefully next time you see me at an event i'll have more than one thing on the table. i'm looking to distro maybe 2-3 zines that aren't by me, so if you have anything, please send it my way for consideration
